Outpatient clinics and Ambulatory care clinics are some explained terms for the term clinics. It is a healthcare facility that is to support the outpatients. Clinics are offered by the private, public or any other sponsor to address the health care needs of local communities. Clinics are normally meant for general medical practice and in if a patient is found need high level of medical attention; they are referred to the hospitals. Usually this facility is provided by the hospitals or medical schools. The counselors check patients and provide medical diagnoses and give treatment for them.
In Sri Lanka, the government is funding for all the clinics occurred in hospitals and government medical centers. In addition the regional medical organizations hold village level clinics for pregnant mothers and young community. This system could be identified as one of the most effective healthcare network that is functioning at its best expected level.
Other than the above mentioned clinics, some charity organizations in corporation with the government and the military medical staffs hold clinics in very rural areas where the service is not that frequently available.
